If you've ever looked at dog food comparisons, chances are you've seen why organic brands are better than non-organic ones. Not only do they possess more nutritious ingredients, but they also tend to have very few preservatives. However, what about the few dog food comparisons that dare to show another side of the equation... how organic dog food stacks up against homemade dog food? With these resources, pet owners are given an opportunity to analyze dog food in a different light. Why? Well, instead of focusing on just preservatives, they get an opportunity to evaluate other things of importance, such as cost, palatability and whether or not a brand is truly organic.

Cost is a factor that is usually discussed in more extensive dog food comparisons. And generally, the overall consensus is that homemade dog food is a much cheaper alternative than organic dog food. Since homemade dog food uses meat and vegetables that pet owners could eat themselves, dogs don't feel like they're missing out when they look into their food dish. In addition, the taste itself is usually better since the food is much fresher. With organic dog food, the dog is always eating something that is 'processed', even if it doesn't contain as many chemicals as non-organic brands.

Finally, there's the issue of whether or not organic dog food brands truly live up to their claims.

If they aren't, they may get exposed in a dog food comparison chart, as pet owners can see the ratio of organic ingredients to non-organic ones. And sometimes this ratio can be quite displeasing... at least if you're really concerned about feeding your dog organic food. Really, if an organic dog food brand can't use ingredients that are 100% organic, they probably shouldn't be allowed to skirt such a label.
